A long time coming

I have been wanting to commit to a blog for a long time now, but something always seemed to get in the way. Last year my New Years resolution was to get back to writing. I've never been wonderful at the English language, but I love to write. And I did. I almost filled a once neglected journal. Since I've been let go of my once over consuming full time job; I am going to commit myself to this. A place where I can let the creativity flow, a journal for sharing recipes, crafts, life hacks, Pinterest fails and of course toddler activities and meals.
I have such a strong passion for cooking, anything and everything. I love bright, fresh, flavorful ingredients. Besides a 14 week training program I am a completely self-taught 'mom chef.' I enjoy deconstructing and reconstructing food; fusing flavors that don't always pair together. There is no better way to show someone you love them, then through sharing tasty meals and treats. I don't always have the right words to say but give me twenty minutes in the kitchen and I'll show you.
My proudest achievement is my two and a half going on 35 year old, moon loving, nature exploring, animal whispering, flower child. She has her terrible two moments but, we work through them and every night it is more than worth it when she yells "I love you so much" through the paper thin walls. She is also just as much, if not more of a Foodie than I am. She loves to eat, most everything. She has tried and tasted more than most people have in their whole lives. She is my partner in crime, little artist and all around mini- me.
My all time idol is Rachael Ray I think she is truly amazing in every way. Writer, tv host, pet lover, philanthropist and so much more.  I received my first RR Cook book '365: No Repeats' about six years ago and have drastically changed the way I look at food and life since. I never knew what direction I wanted to go to and, turned to cooking. It gave me the confidence I needed. It's the one place I have complete control (most of the time- not when you drop a full pound of perfectly cooked steak tips on the floor)
I can't go without talking about the King to my castle, my husband. I wouldn't be me without him. He has been my life saver, true love, soul mate, best friend and most amazing daddy to my little lady. I won him over through cooking. No joke. The first meal I made was Chicken and Penne in Pink Vodka Sauce. Almost six years ago, crazy. After the Pink Vodka Sauce, it was Chicken and Alfredo, then Chicken Stir Fry. After that is when my now husband bought me the RR Cookbook and told me if I was going to cook for him every night it was going to include something other than just chicken. Life changing moment. So we would pick out a recipe, go to the store, and I would get to work in the kitchen. I would say my plot to win him over through food worked pretty well, nearly six years later and he is still my favorite food critique. I do have to say I've had some pretty monumental fails, like fried anything, Brie mac and cheese and a Godiva cake that ate my car floor carpet. It's never funny at the time, but looking back I can laugh. There is nothing worse than spending three hours preparing, cooking and cleaning just to find out dinner was as terrible. However every bad experience is knowledge. Knowledge to put those flavor combinations together.
So bare with me while learning the tricks of blogging and follow to share my love of cooking, toddler meals, arts and crafts and basic life lessons.
